It seemed that I had little choice but to travel the creative road as talent in many fields abounded on both sides of my family. Music, acting and painting did not work for me but my paternal grandmother was a couturier dressmaker and trips with her to the magical fabric and millinery shops inspired a love of the tactile. She and my mother taught me to sew clothing on Mom's treasured little Singer Featherweight.
The birth of my son inspired my first quilt and I have carried on for 40 years. Traditional styles slowly morphed into art quilting and since retiring, I have taken many technique workshops, joined a wonderful art group and have become determined to learn to draw. I love to embellish with hand stitching and beads and am happy when these can be incorporated into my pieces which are mostly inspired by nature.
A lot of the time I feel as if I am just beginning my career because there is always something more to learn. I am truly enjoying the ride.
